successfully completed Teaching in Higher Education course (Staff development centre, University of the Visual and preforming Arts -2021), MPA in Music (With Faculty Gold Medal for Highest GPA), Faculty of Music, Benaras Hindu University in India 2018. BPA in Music (With Faculty Gold Medal for Highest GPA), University of the Visual and Performing Arts Sri Lanka 2013. “Visharad Instrumental Sitar” passed with
First Division (With Distinction) 2012 and “Visharad Vocal” passed with First Division 2011.

 

Profile:

Galapitiyarachchige Harsha Bandara Gamage is a Sitarist in Indian Classical Music. He is a Lecturer (Prob) in Faculty of Music at the Department of North Indian music at the university of the Visual and Performing Arts. He has Particular expertise and research interest in instrumental Sitar and contemporary North Indian Music Culture. He is a practicing artist specializing in Sitar and he performed nationally and internationally in  countries including Sri Lanka and India.

Research Interests:

My principal research interests lie in the field of Instrumental Sitar specially focusing upon North Indian. I am reading M.Phil in the University of Peradeniya. My research area is “How the Sitar evolved in School Education”. I have particular expertise and research interest in Musicology outlook of the Sitar, How to use applied Music in Sitar and North Indian Music Culture.
