Profile:
Hemantha Manohari Randunuge was born in 1968 in Kandy’ She obtained primary and secondary education at Girls’s High School – Kandy’ She won the All Island Dance and Drama , 1st Place for Solo Drumming and Best Drummer Award (Getabera – Kandyan Drum) from the Year 1979 to 1988 (9 times) Sponsored by the Ministry of the Education’ Won the All Island Music and Drama Competition 1st places several times conducted by the Ministry of Education’ In the School she holds position such as Member of the School Prefects Committee” Leader of the Hewisi Band” Leader of the Eastern Music Group, etc.
She entered the Institute of Aesthetic Studies in University of Kelaniya in 1989 and Graduated as the First Female Tabla Graduate in 1993 with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts. In 1994 she obtained the Upadhi of Visharad of Music from the Bhathkande Sangeeth Vidtapith in Lucknow and the Final Certificate of National Dance and Music Examination concucted by the Examination Department of Sri Lanka. She joined the Institute of Aesthetic Studies in University of Kelaniya in 1996 as an External Instructer and she was appointed as Assistant Instrumentalist in 1998′ She Obtained her Master Degree in Philosophy (M.Phil) from the University of Kelaniya in 2010′ She Obtained her Phd. Degree from the University of Sri Jayawardanapur in 2023′
