Department of North Indian Music

The Department of North Indian Music of the Faculty of Music of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts is committed to the systematic study, preservation, and advancement of the traditions of Hindustani classical music. Grounded in a rich historical and cultural heritage, the Department provides a comprehensive academic framework that integrates both theoretical knowledge and practical training in vocal and instrumental music.

The academic programme encompasses the study of fundamental concepts, along with music theory, musicology, and performance practice. Students receive rigorous training in major classical forms, thereby ensuring a balanced and holistic musical education.
