Ms. Kumudu Dilani Sunilshantha is a dedicated senior lecturer, performer, and researcher specializing in Kandyan Dance, one of Sri Lanka’s classical and ritualistic art forms. With a strong academic foundation from the University of the Visual and Performing Arts (UVPA), she holds both a Bachelor and Master of Performing Arts, along with advanced professional training in Choreography and Indian classical dance forms such as Bharatha and Kathak. Her academic and creative pursuits center on exploring the aesthetic, structural, and therapeutic dimensions of Kandyan Dance, emphasizing how traditional movement practices contribute to physical wellness, psychological harmony, and cultural continuity. Through her teaching, she promotes an integrative approach that connects tradition and modern philosophy, guiding students to preserve cultural authenticity while engaging in creative innovation. Ms. Sunilshantha’s performances and research reflect her commitment to community engagement, gender inclusivity, and the sustainability of performing arts in modern Sri Lankan society.
