Celebrating 20 Years of University Excellence and Artistic Legacy – Organized by the University of the Visual and Performing Arts

The University of the Visual and Performing Arts is proud to celebrate a significant milestone, its 20th anniversary in on 01 st July 2025. Accordingly, a celebration from July 1 to July 2, 2025, has been planned to commemorate these remarkable achievements with a theme of united in community, creativity, and curiosity.

The Centre for Research, Creative Works and Knowledge Dissemination, with the collaboration of all three Faculties, Units and Centres, and in collaboration with the Student Union of the university, planned Exhibitions and performances, providing a platform for students and academic staff to showcase their talents and artistic works. These exhibitions and performances will enrich our cultural offerings and enhance our outreach efforts.

Throughout this week, we will host diverse activities, including exhibitions,
performances, workshops, and panel discussions that celebrate our myriad artistic disciplines. This festival is an invaluable opportunity to strengthen our connections with the community, foster collaboration, and inspire the next generation of artists and performers.

Objectives

The primary objective of this program is to fulfill our strategic goals while enhancing the university’s reputation and reinforcing our connections with stakeholders and the community. Our key aims for the event include:

  1. Celebration of Achievements: Honoring the contributions of former Vice-Chancellors, Registrars, and long-service members of the university.
  2. Community Engagement: Actively involving local school communities through workshops and competitions /Alumni connections,/ Industry engagement.
  3. Promotion of Arts and Culture: Showcasing the creative talents of our students alongside Alumni/local artists / Academic, and other professional staff members.
  4. Encouragement of Student leadership and study-related activities: Engaging students in the planning and execution of events.
  5. Collaboration and Networking: Strengthening ties with embassies, local organizations, and academic institutions.
  6. Facilitating students’ creative art activities
  7. Knowledge dissemination

Impact and Long-term Vision:

The initiative is designed not only to celebrate the artistic and academic achievements of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts (UVPA) but also to create lasting connections with communities across the nation. Through sustained knowledge-sharing and interactive learning experiences, the university seeks to inspire creativity, nurture talent, and reinforce its role as a beacon of cultural and educational advancement.

Knowledge Dissemination and Community Engagement

Knowledge dissemination and community engagement serve as foundational pillars of the program’s structure, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and the broader community. This initiative is realized through a multifaceted approach, encompassing exhibitions, performances, educational programs, and scholarly publications. These activities are strategically designed to extend the university’s academic excellence and cultural vibrancy to diverse audiences, both locally and nationally.

    • Curated exhibitions showcasing student and faculty artwork, design projects, and innovative research outputs.
    • Live performances in theatre, dance, and music, reflecting both traditional and contemporary artistic expressions.

    • UVPA Open Day Celebration showcases undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational programs, highlighting their commitment to creative talent and academic excellence. The event highlights departmental goals, innovation, and expansion of learning facilities. Visitors can experience the vibrant learning environment through interactive booths, live demonstrations, and guided tours.
    • A Career Fair and Networking Sessions connect students with potential industrial training partners and esteemed alumni members
