Profile:

Kamani Samarasinghe is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Technology (IT) at the University of the Visual & Performing Arts Colombo. She has been a faculty member since 2006. She was the Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL) Director from 2018-2021. She is also a member of the Sports Advisory Committee of UVPA. She is the editorial manager of the Journal of Research in Music (JRM) published by the Faculty of Music, UVPA, and cell leader of the internal quality assurance cell of the Faculty of Music from 2011 to 2023. Kamani completed her MPhil and MSc in Computer Science. at the Post Graduate Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka, and her undergraduate studies at the University of Kelaniya. Her research interests lie in the area of distance education teaching and learning, data mining, E-learning, Knowledge management, Digital preservation in sound and audiovisual archives, and preserving, documenting, and safeguarding traditional music and dance. She is also a member of the National Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage, ICOMOS (Sri Lanka), the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), the International Society for Music Education (ISME), and the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance (ICTM).
