Department of Multi Disciplinary DesignThe Academic Journey: A Comprehensive Four-Year Curriculum
Our program is meticulously structured to transform students from foundational learners into specialized design researchers and industry-ready professionals. The new curriculum emphasizes a rigorous blend of technical mastery, theoretical depth, and real-world application.
Level 01: Foundations & Disciplinary Exploration
The journey begins with a focused Rotation Period. This essential phase allows students to explore various design disciplines, ensuring they develop a broad perspective before committing to specialized study.
Level 02: Principles, Human Factors & Research
In the second year, students transition from exploration to the core mechanics of design. The focus is on the marriage of human needs and technical precision.
- Human-Centered Design: Introduction to Human Factors for Design and the core Design Principles & Elements.
- Technical & Digital Mastery: Development of essential skills in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Technical Drawing, and Design Rendering & Presentation.
- Heritage & Context: Students engage in Field Research-based Traditional Crafts Studies and are introduced to Research Methodology.
- Practical Application: The year culminates in Design Project I, where students begin applying their skills to tangible solutions, supported by intensive Drawing I and elective modules in Design Basic & Development.
Level 03: Specialization, Industry & 3D Space
The third year pushes students toward professional independence and industrial relevance.
- Advanced Aesthetics: Deepening knowledge through the History of Design and Decorative Arts I and Advanced Rendering and Presentation.
- Spatial & Industrial Focus: Introduction to Interior Design I, 3D Design, and the evolution of Modern Craft & Industrial Design.
- Creative Autonomy: Students work within the Creative Design Studio I and tackle Design Project II, supported by Visual Communication for Designers.
- Professional Immersion: A cornerstone of this level is the Internship, which bridges the gap between the studio and the professional industry, complemented by Drawing II and specialized electives in 2D Design and Technical Drawing.
Level 04: Innovation, Management & Professional Mastery
The final year focuses on leadership, entrepreneurship, and the completion of high-level research.
- Refined Context: Exploring the History of Design and Decorative Arts II and advancing spatial skills in Interior Design II.
- Strategic Design: Students learn the business of design through Design Management and Entrepreneurship and explore sustainable solutions in Appropriate Technology.
- The Capstone Experience: The curriculum culminates in Design Project III and Drawing III, representing the peak of the student’s creative output.
- Academic Excellence: A significant portion of the final year is dedicated to the Dissertation, where students conduct original research, preparing them for both industry leadership and future academic pursuits.
